How not to make a mistake when fixing drip caps? Firstly, the drip cap must be made of mater material that is resistant to the harmful effects of the chemicals contained in waterproofing compounds, grout and adhesive. Water Block drip caps are made of stainless steel and this type of steel gives them resistance to the harmful effects of these substances. Another important element is the use of a suitable tape at the connection between the drip cap and the balcony-terrace surface. Often we find that there is no tape at all, so that this balcony-terrace space becomes immediately vulnerable to unsealing by the thermal expansion of m1TP2Bodies. The best-suited m1TP2Body for these areas is the reinforcing sealing tape WB TAPE PRO. When lining it, we do not need to perform additional grafting layers on the eaves profile, because the butyl rubber with which it is coated on one side vulcanises perfectly with both stainless steel and concrete. This results in a permanent bond between the two m1TP2Plastics, which copes perfectly with thermal expansion.
This type of installation does not require the use of boreholes, which are an intrusion into the drip cap and concrete, creating additional space for water penetration. The installation with WB Tape Pro is very quick - just peel off the protective layer from the butyl and stick the tape to the drip cap. WB Tape Pro itself creates additional insulation. A very important advantage is that it consists of two layers: waterproofing material and butyl. Butyl is the material that does the job of the adhesive. Its properties enable it to vulcanise with the substrate to which it is bonded. This process takes about 24 hours - it's long, but it creates a very strong bond, making the tape firmly adhered to the substrate and difficult to remove. Butyl is also a flexible material, so it can work nicely with the substrate.
A two-layer waterproofing is applied to the installed profile with tape, after which the final water can flow freely down the face of the drip cap without penetrating underneath. An easy, quick and effective solution.
