Many people ask the question: if I use waterproofing, why do I need tape? When waterproofing a new building or renovating a balcony or terrace, it is worth doing it in such a way that you don't have to revisit the subject. Every building is subjected to a lot of wear and tear over the years, which causes cracks and fissures to appear, large or small. However, to ensure that no cracks surprise us, we must additionally protect them with tape. It is worth noting here that even a small crack can cause water leakage and unnecessary dampness inside the flat. Water Block has not only a reinforcing tape (like most on the market), but also a sealing tape. So the tape WB Tape Pro by itself forms additional insulation. A very important advantage is that it consists of two layers: m1TP2Waterproofing material and butyl. Butyl is an mater material that does the work of an adhesive. Its properties enable it to vulcanise with the substrate to which it is bonded. This process takes about 24 hours - it is long, but creates a very strong bond, making the tape firmly embedded in the substrate and difficult to remove. Butyl is additionally m1TP2Flexible, so it can work nicely with the substrate.
The use of an additional waterproofing tape under the waterproofing compound in areas at high risk of cracks, through which water can easily enter the building, provides an additional guarantee of the water tightness of the balcony or terrace.
This raises another question: where do we install the tape? We install the tape in the most sensitive areas such as:
- Connecting the terrace/balcony slab to the building
- Where expansion joints are made, the panels
- Joining eaves profiles
- if we cannot install a railing from the front of the balcony and we leave the old one in place, the old elements must be protected.
