The bathroom, including the shower room, is one of the most important rooms in any home. The right choice of m1TP2finishing materials makes it possible to create an elegant, functional and comfortable interior. Tiles of all kinds are very popular, as they not only look aesthetically pleasing but are also practical.

Why is waterproofing in the bathroom essential?

Bathroom waterproofing is a key element that protects the building structure from the damaging effects of moisture. A bathroom is a room with high levels of water and moisture, which can lead to damage to m1TP2Building materials such as concrete. Waterproofing prevents water penetration into the structural elements, which is essential to maintain their durability and safety.

How do I waterproof a shower cubicle without a shower tray?

Insulating a shower without a shower tray is one of the basic tasks when renovating a bathroom. This type of solution is modern and aesthetically pleasing, but requires a special approach. In order to do the waterproofing correctly, a slope must be used to allow the water to drain into the grating and the right m1TP2Insulation materials must be used, such as:

  • WB Primer
  • WB Tape Pro
  • WB Membrane
  • WB Duo Flex

What are the steps to waterproofing a shower?

  1. Substrate preparation: Level the surface, clean off any impurities and prime with WB Primer.
  2. Sealing of corners and jointsApply WB Tape Pro to all corners and joints of the linear drain. Also seal plumbing penetrations and plasterboard joints with tape.
  3. Application of the first insulation layer: Thoroughly mix WB Duo Flex insulation and apply the first layer (approx. 1-2 mm) with a brush or trowel.
  4. Application of the insulation mat: On the horizontal surface, sink the WB Membrane insulation mat into the WB Duo Flex insulation.
  5. Application of the second insulation layer: After the first layer has dried, apply a second final layer of WB Duo Flex insulation.
  6. Installation of tile cladding: After approximately 24 hours, the tiles can be installed.

What are the advantages of adequate waterproofing?

By carrying out proper waterproofing of the bathroom, there is less risk of renovations related to moisture damage. Damp proofing reduces damp patches and prevents conditions conducive to the growth of fungi and mould.

How much does it cost to waterproof a bathroom?

The cost of waterproofing a bathroom can vary depending on the size of the room and the m1TP2Materials used. Examples of m1TP2Bodies prices:

  • WB Duo Flex 10 kg: approx. PLN 270
  • WB Tape Pro: approx. £188
  • WB Membrane: approximately £418
  • WB Primer Primer 2L: approx. £55

Is waterproofing the bathroom necessary?

Yes, waterproofing the bathroom is essential to protect the structure of the building from moisture, to prevent mould and mildew and to ensure the long-term durability and aesthetics of the room.

What are the advantages of using waterproofing corners?

Corners have an important function in wet areas of the bathroom, such as the bath and shower. They are made of leak-proof plastic that easily blends with waterproofing compounds. Their main advantages are:

  • Watertight: The corners are impervious to water, protecting the substrate from dampness.
  • Ease of installation: The corners are already profiled and easy to install.
  • Effectiveness: Made of non-woven polyethylene material that does not lose its sealing properties over time.

How to waterproof a bathtub properly?

Waterproofing a bathtub requires similar m1TP2Materials and techniques as for a shower. The use of WB Tape Pro and WB matting ensures waterproofing is tight and durable. It is important to take special care of corners and joints where moisture can most easily penetrate.

In summary, waterproofing a bathroom is an essential element that ensures the durability and safety of the room, protecting it from the damaging effects of moisture. With the right m1TP2Materials and techniques, you can avoid costly renovations and enjoy a beautiful, functional bathroom for years to come.

Materials needed:

  • WB Primer

Method of waterproofing a bathtub:

WB TAPE PRO - essential element

Corners - an important element of waterproofing:

The bathroom is a room with a high humidity index. The vapour and humidity that arises in this room have a very intensive effect on the wall and floor structure. This results in the slow degradation of these surfaces through the appearance of mould and mildew and, in some cases, the weakening of the wall structure. This is why we should think about effective waterproofing first during the bathroom design phase. Today we will discuss one element of waterproofing, namely corners.

Corners have an important function in so-called wet areas - that is, where there is a bathtub and a shower. We have two versions of corners: external and internal, and they are made of airtight plastic, to which waterproofing compounds can easily be attached.

Basic features of the corners :
- Watertight - The corners are impervious to water, protecting the substrate from dampness.
- Easy to install - The corners are already profiled. Simply apply them to the corner on top of the freshly laid sealing compound and press down, and cover with a second layer of sealing compound when dry.
- Effectiveness - The corners are made of non-woven polyethylene, which does not lose its sealing properties despite the passage of time. Therefore, once installed, the corners are effective for a long time.

Corners should be used in the corners of the bathroom, as moisture is heavily concentrated in these areas and the application of waterproofing compound alone does not guarantee accurate and durable protection. The use of these elements together with waterproofing WB Duo Flex - which is a waterproofing that, when dry, forms materhe rubber-like material provides a guarantee of airtightness for many years.
